Keeping tabs on female families is an important aspect of thoroughbred breeding as it can reflect the current status of any particular bloodline. Commercial broodmare owners obviously invest most money into a family with a genuine future, sending dams and sisters to the best sires available…

A full-sister to SEIDNAZAR is responsible for one of the more promising young gallopers in Sydney. Risky Banter, a daughter of Rory’s Jester from Dangerous Seam (NZ), is the dam of Regal Banter, a good winner at Canterbury Park at his latest outing.

Regal Banter is a 3-year-old gelding by Encosta de Lago trained out of the Gerald Ryan stable at Rosehill. As a youngster, Regal Banter was offered at the 2008 Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Bellagio Lodge, Queensland, but passed-in at $170,000 with a reserve of $200,000.

Regal Banter has now won two of his seven starts, with both of his victories coming at Canterbury. He has also been placed on another two occasions, the first on debut at Warwick Farm.

Regal Banter was the third live foal of Risky Banter. SEIDNAZAR’s full-sister has since produced a colt and a filly by Stratum during consecutive seasons, and was last year covered by Haradasun.

SEIDNAZAR is arguably the most interesting Riverdene Stud stallion at this present time with his very first 2-year-olds now making it to the track. So far at this very early stage of the new juvenile racing season, the brilliant son of Rory’s Jester has only had one runner, though the indications are that there will be plenty of action over the coming months.

According to the Australian Stud Book, no fewer than 29 members of SEIDNAZAR’s first crop progeny have been named — a sure sign that they are making the right progress.

It is worth recalling that SEIDNAZAR was a brilliant 2-year-old performer, successful in the juvenile event traditionally staged on W.S. Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley.

Such is the make-up of the breed, we are confident that representatives of SEIDNAZAR’s initial offspring will be making an impact very soon.
