There
are few more exciting times
in the life of a thoroughbred
stud than when the first crop
progeny of a sire is taken
to sale. The first few months
of 2009 is such a time, with
our initial consignments of
SEIDNAZAR offspring heading
to Sydney, Adelaide and other
parts…
The
hard work of preparing the
first crop yearlings of SEIDNAZAR
is almost done and only time
will tell how they are to
be received in the marketplace.
The first of the stallion’s
drafts is set to appear at
the Sydney Classic Yearling
Sale in the second week of
February and it promises
to be a very interesting time
in our lives.
We
feel that the Sydney Classic
Yearling Sale is an ideal
venue
to introduce this new breed
as the buying bench has generally
appreciates youngsters very
likely to make in to early
runners.
Considering
SEIDNAZAR’s
own racing career and overall
make-up, he seems destined
to prove the ideal Classic
Sale stallion, not only at
the 2009 renewal but hopefully
for many years to come.
Our
Classic Sale draft features
five colts and one filly by
SEIDNAZAR.
These include a half-brother
to the Western Australia stakes
winner Lord Mason, and a three-quarter
brother-in-blood to Armidale’s
New Zealand stakes placegetter
Romar Dale.
Later
in the same month, Alva Stud
Pty Ltd (As Agent) will offer
a filly from La Chador at
the
Magic Millions 2009 Tasmanian
Yearling Sale.
In
March, we are off to Adelaide
again with two sons of SEIDNAZAR
to be offered on our own behalf
and one on behalf of a client.
Even
taking in to consideration
the
uncertain climate ahead
of
the
financial sector, we are
confident
that these exercises prove
we
chose well when securing
SEIDNAZAR
in 2006.
PEDIGREE
OF THE MONTH: Seidnazar
It
is not difficult to ascertain
how SEIDNAZAR was one of the
leading 2-year-olds of his
generation when reminding
ourselves of his bloodlines.
They are filled with exceptional
influences when it comes to
early maturing speed!
His
sire Rory’s
Jester, of
course, was
a Golden Slipper
winner by a
Golden Slipper
beaten favourite
by a Golden
Slipper winner.
His subsequent
stud career
was one of
the greatest
in living memory
when producing
youngsters
capable of
mixing it with
the best in
their 2- and
3-year-old
racing seasons.
It
should not be forgotten, however,
that SEIDNAZAR is also from
a filly that won the VRC
Maribynong
Trial (LR),
and who was
herself by
a champion
sire of 2-year-olds
in New Zealand
in the form
of Straight
Strike — a
son of Mr
Prospector,
no less.
Conspicuous
in the
pedigree of SEIDNAZAR is also
the name of Biscay, one of
the great 2-year-old sires
in Australasian
breeding
history.
The son
of Star Kingdom (Ire) was
a champion
in this
particular domain and has
since influenced
the backgrounds
of numerous
brilliant
2-year-olds
over the
years.
